Babykicks New Product Details, Comparison and Information from Abby’s Lane!

by shethinksmedia

This week I am going to go over some of the new BabyKicks products in a little more detail, we have a Premium and Basic Pocket as testers for both my 2.5 year old 25 lb son, and my 23lb 7 month old (yes, same weight and 2 years apart-LOL-one is tall/slender and my baby is a chunk!)

I like both of these pockets, the velcro is much like the Ones and Twos velcro, also the GroVia aplix. It has plastic teeth on a smooth surface instead of the fuzzy loop on other brands.

The pocket itself is narrow aka “trim”, if you don’t like having to maneuver your hand you may not love stuffing this one, but it actually accommodates wider inserts (standard microfiber inserts, Joey Bunz), and for both of my boys we do double up, like we would for any pocket.

The premium is a rerun of the Bumboo, same sizing and pattern, just a velour on the inside instead of the bamboo fleece. Velcro closure, new colors, a well made pocket with good sizing (smaller in rise than Tiny Tush or BG 4.0, bigger than Rumparooz).

Babykicks is a great company to work with, and since both diapers come with hemp in their inserts (or the hemp one size insert for premiums), all of those extra microfiber inserts can work well for extra stuffing :)

Have a great weekend!

Help Fuzzi Bunz Light Pinterest Up Blue today for Autism Awareness and you could win!

by shethinksmedia

Fuzzi Bunz, one of our awesome Twitter Party Sponsors, needs our help today!

Tereson, mother to son Eden, a child impacted by Autism Spectrum Disorder, and inventor and CEO of Fuzzi Bunz Cloth Diapers has a passion for autism awareness and supporting Autism Speaks.  She’s renamed her vibrant blue Fuzzi Bunz Diapers “Light It Up Blue” and for each one sold via Fuzzi Bunz and participating retailers like Abby’s Lane she donates $1 to Autism Speaks.  Sine June 2011 she has donated over $13,000 to Autism Speaks.
To participate, all you need to do is log into Pinterest today, April 2 between 9am and 6pm EST and “pin” pictures of your child, niece, nephew or young friends wearing the “Light it Up Blue” cloth diaper, tagging @FuzziBunz in the caption so we can be sure to see it. If you have been impacted by autism, tell us your story in the photo caption. We will repin all qualified entrants to our Pinterest page too – so be sure to tag @FuzziBunz in your pin!

An esteemed panel of FuzziBunz judges will select three finalists and on Monday, April 9, we will post the three finalists’ pictures on our Facebook page and let you – our fans – vote for their favorite. We will announce the winner on the FuzziBunz blog the following day and the winner will have 48 hours to respond to claim her prize.

The winner will receive two free FuzziBunz diapers, one choice FuzziBunz accessory and a Q+A feature on the FuzziBunz blog. The two “runners up” will each receive a free FuzziBunz diaper in the color of their choice (subject to availability). Please visit the official contest rules for more information.

For more details please visit!

Also, don’t forget, Fuzzi Bunz has donated (4) of their Light It Up Blue Diapers to be given away during our December 10th Twitter Party!  So don’t forget to RSVP!

An Important Update for our fans from the Abby’s Lane family.

by shethinksmedia
Abby’s Lane started online officially in September of 2004, making this year our 8th in business :)

I started it from my home, with the help of my husband, when we had one child (our store’s namesake, Abby). We added more product lines, moved to another home, and another baby. Our third child brought us to a larger home with our biggest inventory yet, and I knew I couldn’t rely on my husband (who still works a full time job as well) for my only helper with the business. At that time my mother in law, Susie, and my sister in law, Jenn, came into our business packing orders, shipping and handling inventory. This was summertime of 2008.

Jenn has since become our store manager, handling online and in-store operations with regards to order packing and picking, and many online promotions. Our staff has grown a great deal, but Susie and Jenn have always been very involved in the store operations, if you have ordered from us since 2008, chances are your label was typed by Susie, in addition to being picked and packed by her as well :)

Susie has watched me grow from a 16 year old teenager who fell madly in love with her son, ended up marrying him and now has 5 of her grandchildren. Over 15 years Susie has been one to listen with empathy, advice and kindness. She adores all of her grandchildren (15 and counting total!) and always makes time to follow the lives of every single one of them, and her own children.

As I have had several children along the way, and Jenn has 6 herself, having our children go to work and see their “Nana” has been a joy and a blessing. For our local customers, if you have come into the store on Wednesdays, you have met Susie or seen her, she is relatively shy and tends to prefer to care for the children or answer customer questions, but her friendly personality has been a huge asset to the store for so many years. Our staff has many testimonials about how Susie has helped them with their situations, their children and even if just to listen about life and it’s obstacles. It is a unique benefit when you own your business to be able to employ your family members, and Susie has been the best for 4 years and counting.

It is with great sadness that I type this, to let our local customers know that for now Susie will no longer be in the store on Wednesdays, nor picking and packing/shipping on Mondays and Tuesdays. Susie has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer this past weekend, and our family is now moving forward with treatment options and other services. Not only is one of our first employees no longer able to work due to this horrible disease that affects so many, but our family and our business has to wait and see what Nana has in store for her future.

I write this not to invoke sadness amongst our customers, but instead as a tribute to one of the “founding mothers” of Abby’s Lane, as the importance of what we do in our business involves family and the well being of our customers.

We all love Susie deeply, and as we embark on this journey please join me with thoughts and prayers for Susie and healing.

If you are local to us, starting this Wednesday when you come in at the front register we will have a stack of little paper in the front register. If you wish to write a note to Susie, Jenn and myself will be bringing them to her, she would love to hear from you.

Thank you for your time in reading this, from the staff of Abby’s Lane and the Daniel family~
