BONUS!!! Three HOT Cloth Diaper Gifts
Shopping for a baby can be surprisingly hard. Chances are, baby is either going to sleep through gift giving or be so entrance with the wrapping paper, she’ll hardly notice what is in the gift. With that in mind, we’ve selected some adorable yet practical gifts for baby that will be loved and appreciated long after the wrapping paper makes its way into the recycling bin.
XOXO Baby Carrier ($120-180). The innovative buckle wrap, this carrier is a beautiful compromise between a traditional woven wrap and a soft-structured carrier. Baby gets the snug cuddle of a wrap with the security of a perfect seat every time. The parent gets the fashionable look of a woven with the convenience and easy learning curve of a soft structured carrier. Two of our favorite gender neutral colorways are the Abby’s Lane exclusive Girasol wrap Sebastian (crisp teal, white and grey stripes) or Eggplant Emoji (deep purple). If you’d like to learn more, here is Steph talking with Alex, the owner and creator of XOXO Baby Carrier:
Sweetooth Baby Teether ($15). The perfect stocking stuffer for your favorite drooling baby, the Sweetooth Baby Teether is made with food grade silicone in the USA and has a wide base that is easy for babies to grip. Add in an adorable ice cream cone design and a pleasant, light vanilla scent and what’s not to love? We’ve been known to stick them in the freezer for extra cool relief. Safe and sweet for all baby’s teething needs.
Skip Hop Bandana Buddies ($15). These adorable toys are a new addition to the store and immediately captured our hearts and ticked all of our baby toy must-have boxes. Cute? Yep. Lots of different noises and textures to keep baby interested? You bet! Easy to clip to a stroller or a carrier so it doesn’t end up lost in the grocery store parking lot? Sold! Each of the 8 different animals available is great for babies who love crinkle toys and different textured teething surfaces. Check out the Unicorn or the Fox for one of the coolest baby gifts around.
Saranoni Medium Blanket ($39). From the moment we opened the first box of Saranoni blankets at our warehouse, the entire Abby’s Lane staff has been in love with these high quality, gorgeous blankets. They make the list because so many of us have given these as gifts over the years and they have been so well received. For a little baby, our favorite size is the medium, which is a standard receiving blanket size (30 inches by 40 inches). This size works great for covering a car seat on a chilly morning or providing a warm soft service to lay baby down on. Saranoni blankets come in three option: Lush/Lush (plush all over the blanket), Satin Border (plush center with a silky satin border) and Satin Back (plush on the front and a satin print on the entire back). Each option is just lovely to see and feel. We recommend the Medium Mint with Pastel Flowers Satin Border for a beautiful blanket that will be loved and used for years to come.
Workman Publishing My First Baby Signs Picture book ($11.99). Many parents swear by Baby Signs to help babies and toddlers communicate and ease frustration. This big, sturdy, colorful books is a fun way to introduce baby signs. Each page has a colorful image of baby with a motion to demonstrate some of the basic baby signs. Baby will learn “more,” “help,” “eat,” “all done,” and lots of other useful signs. When we received a sample of this book, it was so loved by the kids who come to work in the warehouse with their moms, that they claimed it as their own. We are confident you and your baby will love it too.
Chewbeads Gramercy Stroller Toy ($15). The name of this item is a bit misleading … it’s a stroller toy, yes, but also a baby carrier toy and a car seat toy and hooked-onto-the-diaper-bag toy and a anywhere-your-baby-needs-to-chew toy. The simple design features silicone beads and a plastic “C” hook that will seriously hook anywhere. The bright colorways are engaging for baby and coordinate easily with mom’s diaper bag or carrier. We love the rainbow look of the Red Gramercy.
Bumblito Bee Covered ($28). For the busy mom with a full diaper bag, the Bee Covered is a life saver. One clever cover does it all … fits loosely on Mom for feeding privacy, shields sleeping baby from the sun in a car seat, and even protects baby from questionable gook on a public high chair or shopping cart. It’s light weight, completely washable and takes up very little space. We’re a sucker for the classic charm of the Aqua Floral print pictured above.
The second half of baby’s first year is an exciting time full of growth and discovery. Babies start experimenting with food, moving around and playing with toys in this developmental stage so the possibilities for gifts are endless. We’ve focused in on a few of our favorites that will be help baby master new skills and help parents manage their ever more adventurous little one. Here are some of our favorite mealtime, playtime and travel ideas for babies 6 to 12 months.
EZPZ Mat ($19.99 to $24.99). These clever feeding mats have been gaining a lot of attention in the past couple of years from an appearance on Shark Tank and mommy word of mouth. Made of food grade silicone and super-easy to clean, both the Mat and the Mini Mat are designed to stick to a high chair or tabletop and help reduce mealtime mess. Deep, separated compartments are ideal for babies working on the self feeding and the bright, cheerful design will be a welcome addition to any kitchen. We love the Mini Mat in Lime as a versatile, convenient feeding accessory. *Bonus: both sizes of Mats fit easily in an Smartbottoms On The Go Wet bag for a cute feeding gift for the baby that travels.
Re-Play No-Spill and Soft Top Sippy Cups ($4.75/$5.50). Re-Play is beloved by parents all over the USA for their fun and affordable approach to going green. They have two great options for a Sippy Cup: the hard spout that has a restricted flow and is basically indestructible, and the soft spout with an easier flow great for babies just starting out with a sippy. Both are available in a bright rainbow of colors and make for a fun, useful stocking stuffer for all the babies and toddlers on your list. We love choosing the perfect colors, like a family’s favorite sports team or the same palate as the family’s regular dining dishes, for a fun and customized gift. Here’s Steph talking with Gina from Re-Play about all the fun new products this brand has to offer:
Bumblito Bandana Bibs ($12) Experienced parents will tell you that once baby starts drooling, you can never have enough bibs on hand. Fortunately, today’s baby has a stylish, functional option ready in the Bumblito Bandana Bibs. The soft organic cotton is absorbent and adorable and there are two snap settings extending the fit into toddlerhood. These sweet bibs are the epitome of functional fashion. If you’re looking for something amazing for baby to wear in holiday photos, check out the chic Manhattan print which coordinates with any holiday fashion scheme.
Tula Free To Grow ($159) As baby grows bigger and masters new skills like sitting independently, more and more baby-wearing possibilities open up. Back carrying a baby allows for “hands-free” parenting and the active lifestyle today’s families need. We love the versatility of the Tula Free to Grow carrier which will fit baby from 7 to 45 lbs and is super comfortable in a front or back carry. If you are looking for a baby gift that will be loved for it’s beauty and usefulness, a Tula Free to Grow in a chic pattern like Hide and Seek is perfect.
Indestructibles ($5.99). These cute paperback books from Workman Publishing are the toughest stocking stuffers around. They offer simple, colorful stories and truly live up to their name. Baby can bite, tear, drag, stomp on these happy little books and they will not be destroyed. We love the cuddly otters and sweet message of “Love You, Baby”.
Apple Park Pacifier Buddy ($13) Everyone needs something to cuddle and the Apple Park Pacifier Buddy combines cuddle and function. A clever loop on the animals head attaches to baby’s pacifier to make it easier to grip, easier to find and more likely to NOT end up on the floor. You don’t need to worry if the Pacifier buddy ends up in baby’s mouth instead of the paci … Apple Park is committed to using the highest quality organic materials and has the certifications to back it up. Catnip Kitty is our adorable Instagram-star kitty alter-ego … purrrfffeeccctt for the baby who exudes cuteness.
Flipping Holder ($12). If you’ve ever watched in terror as your baby has gleefully squeezed the entire contents of a food pouch all over herself, then you “get” the Flipping Holder. Designed to prevent food pouch and juice pouch/box mess, the Flipping Holder is the handy little gadget moms are raving about. Available in clear or blue, the Flipping Holder means less time cleaning and more time celebrating this holiday season.
Healing Hazel Amber/Gemstone Necklace ($27). The healing powers of gemstones have been celebrated throughout history and across civilizations. Healing Hazel pairs some of the most beautiful gemstones with genuine Baltic amber, a natural pain relieving tool loved by parents with teething babies. These necklaces come in a three sizes so you can get the perfectly safe fit on your baby and have safety features such as pop clasps and knots between all beads. We love the look of the turquoise necklace … perfect for the bohemian baby that needs a little calm in their life.
Grapple ($19.99) This clever little toy tether is a must for any parent tired of the “throw the toys on the floor/pick up the toys/throw the toys back on the floor” game. The adorable apple design opens up to reveal several tether ropes that toys can be easily attached to. Use it in a high chair, in a stroller, at a restaurant, wherever baby needs toys to be secured. We love that this is a baby item that makes the baby toys you already have better! Available in red or green and easy to wash!
Life with a toddler is never dull and the holidays are no exception. As baby grows and their bright, sparkling toddler self emerges, toys are more fun, safety is ever more a concern and cuddles are still needed. We’ve selected a list of beautiful, useful products that your toddler will love and that will continue to bring joy long after the holidays have ended.
Fat Brain Spin Again ($29.99) This exciting toy holds the distinction of being the Abby’s Lane Staff’s favorite gift for a 1 year old. Why do we love it so much? Because it’s fun! The large pieces are easy for even young toddlers to manipulate but the stacking and spinning action is fun and entertaining for everyone. Some of us parents have even been caught taking a spin! Made of BPA-free plastic and guaranteed to instill wonder and curiosity in your little one, Spin Again is a Christmas gift that will played with again and again.
Skip Hop Backpack/Lunchies/Water Bottle in coordinating animal motifs ($20/$15/$7.99). If there are two things toddlers love dearly, it’s gotta be animals and packing up bags with random stuff. Much smaller than a standard backpack and decorated with adorable animal faces, the Skip Hop Backpack is the perfect backpack for all of a toddler’s adventures. Add a coordinated Lunchbox and water bottle for a great set of gifts for the toddler on the go. With 30 different animals available, you’re sure to find your little one’s new best animal friend. Plaid Fox, Dinosaur and Unicorn are some of the staff kids’ favorites.
Soapsox Washcloth Buddies ($12.99) Well known for their Shark Tank TV appearance, these adorable washcloth buddies were an instant hit with the staff kids when we started carrying them last year. Everyone from toddlers up to a certain mildly-embarassed pre-teen loves their Soapsox! They can be fun bath toys that dry out easily and machine wash, a foaming washcloth (soap inserts into the critters mouth) or a regular cuddly friend. We love all the adorable details in Scorch the Dragon and the fun new Disney line including Ariel and Flounder from The Little Mermaid. You will certainly be able to find your child’s favorite among the 15+ varieties available.
Soul Slings Onbuhimo Carrier ($75-$95) The Soul Slings Onbuhimo carrier is a new addition to our store that has the staff very excited. Designed for older babies and toddler with definite head and torso controls, the Onbuhimo is a Japanese-inspired, lightweight carrier that allows a parent to carry comfortably on their back. They are either 100% Linen or 100% Jacquard woven cotton and ethically made in Bangalore, India. The carrier folds up small for easy storage and will fit children up to 40lbs. Check out the vibrant look of Kiwi Linen.
Babiators ($20) Is there anything cuter than a little one in sunglasses? We don’t think so! One of our favorite moments in our Mommycon booth (a natural parenting convention that we travel to as a vendor and presenter) is when babies and toddlers try on the Babiators. Offering flexible frames, 100% UV protection and lots of fun colors, Babiators are adorable and practical. Best part? They come with a one year warranty against being broken OR LOST!!! It’s like Babiators knows us and how much our kids love to lose sunglasses! Check out the Navigator style in Lime for a fun, fashionable look for any toddler on your list.
Jack N Jill Toothbrush/Toothpaste ($5.99/$7.99) If your holidays are filled with candy and sweet treats, why not a little nod to dental health to counteract all that sugar? These adorable toothbrushes are made from cornstarch so they will biodegrade and come in 4 adorable animal options. The toothpaste is Xylitol based and free of flouride, BPA, sugar, dyes, SLS and preservatives. Together, the toothbrush and toothpaste combo makes a healthy little stocking stuffer or thoughtful gift for any toddler who might be headed for sugar overload.
Lil Learnerz Training Pants ($27.99 – $29.99 for a two pack) Many toddler parents have a new year’s resolution to tackle potty learning and Lil Learnerz Training Pants from Kangacare can help. These fun, colorful trainers go on like big kid underwear but still provide absorbency and a tight fit for accidents. The smaller sizes (XSmall, Small and Medium) snap at the sides making the clean up of solid waste much easier. The built in IMWet technology allows the child to feel wet and assists in potty learning. Check out the super cute, limited edition Care Bears set for an adorable approach to potty training.
By the time kids reach preschool aged, there’s no shortage of fun and exciting toys available. We’ve focused our list on toys and gifts that have practical uses and inspire creative play. You won’t find loud, annoying, flashy toys on this list … what you will find is thoughtful gifts created by parents like us that will provide hours of entertainment and joy.
Constructive Eating Sets ($14.99 plate/$19.99 utensils/$19.99 tote). Every now and then, we get a product into the warehouse at Abby’s Lane that makes us stop what we’re doing and say “Wow, that’s cool!” That’s how it was when we first saw these imaginative eating sets. The construction themed plate has several compartments for different food and an awesome ramp for pushing food up onto a spoon. The spoon, fork and “pusher” all are amazingly detailed replicas of construction vehicles. And the soft, washable tote provides a larger setting for meal time building on the go. We’ve heard from families with feeding delayed children who love these sets as a fun motivator for self-feeding. And we’ve heard loud and clear from the preschoolers in our families that these sets are number one of their wish lists.
Smart Bottoms Doll Carrier ($30). If you loved carrying your baby, nothing will melt your heart more than seeing that baby carrying a favorite doll or animal in a Smart Bottoms Doll Carrier. A favorite of our fans at our Mommycon booth, these adorable carriers have a light-weight cotton panel, a waist buckle and elastic back straps. These are full adjustable, just like moms, and can be worn in a front or back carry. We see this fitting most toddlers once they can walk all the way up to elementary school kids. Many of the patterns available, like Cool Foxes above, are gender neutral which make them perfect for a Dad or Mom in training who loves to carry baby dolls or stuffed animals.
Fat Brain Squigz ($24.99 +). These colorful little suckers bring hours and hours of creative fun! Squigz connect to each other or any non-porous surface so the building possibilities are endless. We love them for travel … kids can build on car windows, airplane trays, restaurant tables, just about anywhere! The basic starter set comes with 24 pieces or the Deluxe offers 50 pieces to get your favorite preschooler started. Add-on sets are available as well to extend the creative play.
Lil’ Libros ($9.99) Lil’ Libros are beautiful, simple bilingual board books that are a great first introduction to Spanish. Created by two moms who wanted to expose their children to multiple languages, each book focuses on a simple concept and elegantly illustrates basic vocabulary words. With authentic representations of Spanish-language cultures, these lovely little books teach the whole family. We are totally smitten with the lovely representations of different emotions in La Catrina and hope your little learner will be too.
Piggy Paint ($8.99) Piggy Pain All Natural Nail Polish is the perfect stocking stuffer for the mini-glamour girl or guy on your list. Available in a wide range of bright, vibrant colors, the nail polish is odorless and non-toxic — perfect for little ones who still put their fingers in their mouths. We recommend using the Topcoat as well to extend the life of the paint job. Try a fun color like Eat Your Peace above that boys and girls will love to have on their little fingers and toes.
Tula Kid’s Backpack ($79.00) Tula lovers around the world rejoiced when these adorable kid backpacks were released earlier this year. Packed with smart design features like magnetic closures and water resistant fabric, the Tula backpack has that same pairing of beauty and function that we’ve come to love in their baby carriers and blankets. How cute would it be for your preschooler’s backpack to match his baby sister’s baby carrier? These bags easily fit everything you need for a great day at preschool. Check out Steph’s pictures of everything that fits in a backpack from our Facebook chat group, Abby’s Chatties, and have a look at Steph’s recent conversation with Christian from Tula talking all things new and adorable:
Kinderpack Preschool Carrier ($169.00). Last but certainly not least, we have a unique soft structured carrier. The Kinderpack in preschool size is uniquely designed to be a comfy ride for children 3 to 5 years old (35lbs to 55lbs). The three panel seat and ample arm padding make Kinderpack the most comfortable big kid carrier for parents too. Whether you have a child with special needs who will be carried longer than most or an active family who likes to hike longer distances than your preschooler can manage or just a kid that loves to snuggle, the Kinderpack Preschool carrier will keep your child close and comfortable. Our exclusive “Wild Things” print is available in a full panel and is sure to make your little animal lover happy.
Don’t be fooled by their cool exterior, elementary school aged kids and beyond still love getting adorable gifts. We’ve taken an unconventional look at some of the staples we carry and figured out how to make them fun and useful gifts for older kids. So whether you’ve got a sporty 8 year old or a fashion obsessed tween, Abby’s Lane has still got you covered 🙂
Smartbottoms Wet Bags ($10 to $18). If you thought that wet bags were only useful for dirty diapers, you’ve been missing out! The older kids (elementary aged and above) at Abby’s Lane love wet bags for so many uses. The largest size, On the Go (seen above in the sweet Sprinkles print) is perfect for bathing suits and swim gear, muddy sports shoes, damp clothing. The Small Wetbag is perfect to hook onto a backpack and fill with school supplies, action figues or art supplies. The Mini makes a great carrier for make-up, pencils, or feminine hygiene items. With a ton of fun prints available, your older child will be able to find a print he loves for carrying around whatever he can dream up.
Ju-Ju-Be Be Quick ($22). All of us moms that work at Abby’s Lane love the Be Quick for a cute and convenient grab and go little purse. In fact we love it so much, several of us have shared the love with our daughters. The Be Quick makes a perfect “first” purse. Younger elementary aged kids love to use a pretend purse in dress up games or fill it with little toys and treasures. Tweens and teens love it as the perfect sized purse for a small wallet, smartphone and some beauty supplies that’s still slim enough to fit into a backpack. The affordable price and easy washing mean that even though it looks like a small designer handbag, it can stand up to life with a younger fashionista. The Onyx Black Beauty print above is adorable with a light blue background, graphic black flowers and matte hardware.
Saranoni Lush/Lush Toddler to Teen Blanket ($59). Everyone loves Saranoni blankets to cuddle a little baby, but who says older kids don’t need a good cuddle too? The Lush/Lush Toddler to Teen blanket is a dream of softness at 40 inches by 60 inches. We love them for curling up under for movie night, a snuggly travel companion on long car rides and a perfect extra weight on the bed in winter. The Aqua/Grey color scheme pictured above is a soft compliment to boy or girls room decor.
Fat Brain Toys Reptangles ($27.99). One of the many things we love about Fat Brain toys is the way that they open up for endless variations of play. Reptangles are a great example of this. Each durable box contains 24 turtle shaped building pieces in a rainbow of colors. The turtles can be linked and stacked in a variety of ways, allowing children (adults too!) to invent endless geometric structures. At one recent birthday party, everyone ages 6 to 16 was having a blast sorting and building with turtles. If you have a child on your list who loves to build but is a little burned out on Legos and traditional building blocks, Reptangles are a great way to expand their creation horizons.
Sophiesticated Mama Clip Flowers ($6-$9.99). Sophiesticated Mama Headband Flowers are well-loved for babies, but did you know that the clip version is absolutely adorable for older kids? Whether decorating a ponytail or holding back awkward stage bangs, these well-constructed little flowers add a girly pop to any ensemble. Check out the holiday prints for holiday family picture cuteness or the sports options for your tough-but-sweet little one. Betsy (6 year old Abby’s Lane kid) is sporting the Large Clip in Soccer above.
SOPHi Nail Polish ($8.00). SOPHi Nail Polish is odorless, hypoallergenic and made by the same company as the popular Piggy Paint. The revolutionary Prime + Shine + Seal system means that the vibrant colors last. With a large selection of fun colors, SOPHi Nail Polish is a great little gift for a tween or teen who is hard to shop for. Give a single as a stocking stuffer or bundle a few colors and give it in a Ju-Ju-Be Be Ready as an luxurious gift for the beauty obsessed kid in your life.

Family Movie Night featuring Re-Play Snack Stackers ($7.25) and Saranoni Home Blanket ($99). Our families love spending a cold winter’s night snuggled up watching a movie and we’ve figured out the perfect way to give that cozy experience to a family you love. Start with a Redbox or Amazon gift certificate for a movie rental and then add some Re-Play Snack Stackers filled with snacks and candy. A Saranoni Home Blanket would totally perfect the cozy vibe and shoot the gift into the stratosphere.
Family Art Night featuring Smart Bottoms Beach Blanket ($49.99), Eco Kids Finger Paint ($20.99), and Planetwise Small Wet Bags ($9.95). The family that creates together celebrates together! We love the idea of bundling some great art supplies to inspire the family you love to get messy and make something beautiful. Planetwise small wet bags are the perfect size to fill with crayons or color pencils. Eco-Kids Finger Paint will be safe, artistic fun for even the youngest family member and the Smart Bottoms Beach Blanket will be the clean up hero, either covering up the table or protecting the floor underneath. Throw the blanket in the wash and store all the supplies easily until the muse strikes again!
Family Picnic featuring Little Unicorn Outdoor Blanket ($37), Silikids Go Sili Coffee Cup ($14.95), and Chewbeads Silicone Divided Plates ($24 for 2). If you’re spending the holidays dreaming of warmer weather, give the fun of a spring picnic to the family on your list. The Little Unicorn Picnic Blanket makes a great picnic spot or a comfy ground cover at any outdoor event. The new SiliKids Coffee Cups flew off our shelves when they first arrived because everyone loved their easy to clean and lightweight design. And we all know coffee is the magic that keeps parents going, so who wouldn’t love a new coffee cup? The Chewbeads Silicone divided plates are light weight and wipe down easily for clean up. Maybe add a gift certificate to a local sandwich shop or some homemade soup to make the picnic perfect even if it has to happen indoors.
You didn’t think we’d forget cloth diapers, did you? We here at Abby’s Lane are firm believers that a cloth diaper is a perfectly lovely holiday gift for a baby or a cloth-obsessed parent. Grow your stash with these 4 diaper picks sure to delight and keep baby cute and fluffy all year long.
Smart Bottoms Dream Diaper 2.0 ($31-$32). Smart Bottoms revamped their popular Dream Diaper earlier this year and fans rejoiced. The original no-prep, natural fiber diaper got a reinforced pocket and an increased width and we think it’s just about perfect now. Take a look at the fall collection of beautiful jewel tone solids (Martha’s Vinyard is the luscious burgundy above) and you’ll be sure to find a lovely addition to your diaper stash.
Thirsties Natural Fiber One Size All In One ($24.99). Thirsties has long been known for quality, affordable, made in the USA diapers but in recent years, they’ve really upped their game when it comes to adorable prints. Check out the Stargazer print above … it’s got lots of adorable solar system elements rendered in a very modern chalkboard style. Adorable! The Natural Fiber AIO is amazingly absorbent and trim and comes in your choice of snaps or the best Aplix in the business. Here’s Steph chatting with Dave from Thirsties about this collection of prints and more:
Lalabye Baby One Size Diaper ($19.99). Our fans and our staff are in agreement about Lalabye Baby diapers. They have an innovative All-In-Two/Pocket design and come with a wonderfully trim bamboo insert. We also love the rainbow waist snaps that make it simple to remember which settings baby is on. Lalabye is known for their cutting edge solids and fun prints like Wild Rumpus shown above.
